Vermin Supreme, a homeless man whose platform mostly consists of zombie preparedness, has run for president in every election since 1992.
Supreme believes that he brought ridiculousness into politics, and that Donald Trump saw the opportunity to jump in himself.
And I think, to an extent, Supreme is right. Trump is ridiculous. His participation in the election is ridiculous, and the fact that he is the Republican nominee is even more ridiculous.
Trump is a rich, American icon with no political experience. His views are borderline Republican—if that. He has used the Republicans’ ignorance of social issues such as Black Lives Matter, ISIS, and the LGBTQ community to gain control of the party—and it worked.
Trump never actually said, “If I were to run, I’d run as a Republican. They’re the dumbest group of voters in the country.” But his nomination and campaign are quickly proving this to be true.
Trump being the Republican nominee is equivalent to Kanye West being the Democratic nominee. Both are rich, loud, obnoxious icons whose political beliefs may or may not align with the respective parties. When you take into consideration how accurate of an analogy that is, you wonder how on earth Trump won the nomination, and how “stupid Liberals” were able to elect someone with such poise and experience—and not Kanye West.
The Democrats nominated Hillary Clinton. Clinton has 20-plus years of political experience. Clinton has been extensively investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and has not been convicted of any wrongdoing other than deleting emails.
I know this isn’t ideal, but compared to Trump—she’s the pick for POTUS. Clinton was one of 27 women to graduate from Yale Law School in 1973. In the late 1970s, Clinton cofounded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families advocacy group, and worked alongside Ted Kennedy to expand the Children’s Health Insurance Program. While Clinton was Secretary of State, she traveled to 112 countries as America’s chief diplomat, and she played a key role in getting talks started between America and Iran since their revolution in 1979.
Trump hasn’t paid taxes in nearly 20 years, yet he wants to build a wall to keep illegal aliens out of the country because they’re taking advantage of the system… But isn’t that exactly what Trump is doing?
Trump has been recorded saying, “I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything.”
Trump and his cohorts are passing this off as “locker room talk,” to which professional athletes have responded by saying they don’t know what locker rooms Trump has been in.
On top of that, Trump is against nationwide marriage equality and has encouraged violence toward unwelcome people at his rallies. Many people would agree that comparisons can be made between him and Adolph Hitler, and his followers would like to backtrack on the past 60 years of civil rights reforms.
I might vote for Hillary Clinton or I might vote independent, but I definitely will not be voting for Donald Trump.
